Designer Alexander McQueen Dies

British fashion designer Alexander McQueen died 11 February, 2010 at the age of forty. The cause of his death is still under speculations, it is rumored that he was found hanged. McQueen was a high end designer with an A-list celebrity clientele. Throughout his career he created two design labels Alexander McQueen and McQ, he was also a designer for Givenchy from 1996-2001. While there he brought controversy and extravagence. Alexander McQueen will be remember as a bold and daring designer. He will live on because fashion never dies.

These items would be great with stocking or tights and a skirt or great with trousers, wide leg or tapered. These are items you keep with you for years because the more worn in they are the better

Britney Murphy Dies at Age 32

I rarely write about the death of celebrities. It is always tragic to see a person pass away at such a young age, no matter the cause. Britney Murphy was one of my favorite actresses because she was an underdog. She did a full 360 transformation after her "Clueless" days. Everyone remembers "Clueless" which was a fashion cult movies. She went from the slightly chubby, quirky and funny, best friend sidekick to the slim and sexy, quirky and funny, leading lady. One of my favorite movie of hers was "Uptown Girl." I watched that movie dozens of times.

Murphy appeared in a number of films such as: Clueless, 8Miles, Just Married, Don't Say A Word, Riding in Cars with Boys, King of the Hill (voice of Luanne).

Condolences to Britney Murphy's family. I encourage everyone to LIVE YOUR LIFE TO THE FULLEST.

Vitamin E

It is no secret that Vitamin E is found in almost every beauty product for your face and body. Some people ingest Vitamin E pills as a supplement. It is found in many of the foods we eat like spinach, broccoli, almonds, and wheat germ. An alternate beauty solution is to use Vitamin E oil as a moisturizing serum. You can purchase pure Vitamin E oil from your local health and vitamin shops. Use it just like you would any lotion. I prefer to use it on my face after washing it, a little goes a long ways. The oil adds and locks in moisture and helps to repair the skin and keep it smooth. Vitamin E is a great beauty find.

Favorite Winter Fragrances

Fall is here, but let's try something new, instead of warm scents I am loving Clean Fresh Laundry. It is like a breath of fresh air. If you still want a warm scent then try Prada Eau de Parfum it is a great oriental amber scent. Another scent I like is vanilla, men love when a women smells like vanilla, an inexpensive fav from Bath & Body Works is Warm Vanilla Sugar.

Hair Liberation

Women are not mad and taking it out on their hair, it is more like women are feeling liberated and expressing it by cutting off their hair. They are helping Western society adjust its idea of beauty. This new hair revolution is not taking shape in the form of neatly styled symmetrical or asymmetrical bobs or cut little pixie cuts. No, not this time, women are taking it to the extreme; we are setting appointments in barber shops to get buzz cuts. Women are not consulting their stylist on the best ways to make their hair weaves and extensions look straight or real. Some men are shocked when they find out how much money a woman spends on her hair or how many hours woman spends in the beauty salon for one visit.

There is a hair revolution occuring. Women are going Au natural. Natural meaning no weaves, no extensions, no hair pieces, no perms, no relaxers. Young starlets and pop stars like Cassie, Rihanna, LaLa Vazquez, Nina Sky, Solange, Michelle Obama, Halle Berry's even went back to her signature short style, and Mel B's (Scary Spice) little daughter, Angel is sporting a baby mohawk. There are many celebrity hair revolutionaries, but for this new generation we have to give credit to Britney Spears, she took back control when she quickly and impulsively cut off all her hair. People thought she had lost her mind. Sometimes you have to go to an extreme to return to an equilibrium.

Hair is considered a sign of beauty in many cultures and societies. But this generation of young women are helping to redefine society's misperception of beauty. Many are making fashion statements not realizing that they are impacting and helping to redefine social culture as well as the corporate paradigm. Who knew that hair or lack there of could possible change the world.

Bags for Summer

Rock a fun printed carry all bag for the remaining days of summer. These bags have personality on their own. A great website to find some of these bags is www.ebags.com. Brands that have the most variety in patterns and shapes are Amici and Echo. Depending on the color and print that you chose you can wear some of these types of bags well into the Fall season.

Five Inexpensive Beauty Alternatives

Here is a list of simple things that we can buy as an alternative to expensive beauty must haves:

1) Eye Make Up Remover: All you need is baby oil and cotton balls or baby wipes will work

2) Fragrances: Bath and Body Works Perfumes or essential oils; Instead of always buying department store perfumes that can cost anywhere from $60-$100

3) Hydration: Buy gallon bottles of waters and fill your reusable water bottles or put a filter on you pipe, try popular brands like Brita and Pur

4) Clear nail polish: Skip the bi weekly manicure and go au natural. Buy clear base/top coat nail polish and finish it off with a glossy top coat. Now you can do your nail as often as you want and still look put together.

5) Jewelry Holder: Stack two or three ice trays in a draw. Fill them with your rings and earrings. Neat way way to stay organize.

Nanette Lepore

NANETTE LEPORE:
I finally have a new favorite ready-to-wear fashion designer. Once up on a time it used to be Ann Sui, then John Galiano, then Carl Lagerfeld for Chanel, then it was Carolina Herrera and Donna Karen then, for a season Fendi, now it is Nanette Lepore.

Nanette Lepores designs' are pretty, feminine, wearable with a tons of youthful glam. Her line is more affordable (compared to other high end designers, of course) if you wanted to treat yourself to a guilty pretty pleasure.

CLOSET SHOPPING, CLOTHES SWAPPING

A woman's gotta eat, a woman's gotta save money, but a woman's still gotta look good. What better way to revamp a wardrobe than to go shopping-in your own closets. Many of us are trying to save money. Go through your closet and find things you haven't worn in a while.

If you absolutely must buy a new outfit, set a budget before you start shopping. Some people go to thrift stores or consignment shops to buy clothes or accessories. That is great if you have the time to look through a bunch of racks to find that one special articles of clothes or accessory or if you have money to spend on vintage designer clothing. As an alternative, just go to discount stores like Marshalls and TJMaxx or even Target.

Even though you may not have the time to search the racks of a consignment shop, someone else might, so still look through your closet and donate clothing and shoes that you are not going to wear, or give them to a family member, they will appreciate that.

Why not have a clothes swap. Organize a party with a group of friends and bring all your clothes that still has the tags on them that you never intend to wear and trade clothes.

QUICK TIP: No matter what you give or who you give it to, make sure the item is in good condition.

UNDERAPPRECIATED STYLE DIVA, TRACEE ELLIS ROSS

Former Girlfriends sitcoms star and daughter of diva extraordinaire Diana Ross, Tracee Ellis Ross has one of the fiercest sense of style. Tracee Ellis has big hair, big bright eyes and a big personality, that is reflected by the way she dresses. She is always on point style wise and takes fashion risks.

My only question is why is Tracee Ellis not on more "best dressed" lists? She is a hilariously funny actress. It is not that I am the president of the Tracee Ellis Ross fan club, it so disappointing that so many good actresses get over looked for their talent and true sense of style because the cameras are focused on celebrities who cause scandals simple because they like to see their names in headlines.

I will step off my soapbox and simply conclude that Tracee Ellis Ross is a fearless style diva.
